It's always hard for me to recommend - or even remember - movies that I consider, as you say, "must see." But here are some movies that I remember saying that about at a recent dinner or other gathering when suddenly they popped into mind. They're not the big ones - the ones everyone else saw; they're the ones that I (usually correctly) assumed everyone else missed and I had stumbled upon. LA VIE EN ROSE; THE HOST; MAN ON WIRE; THE DIVING BELL AND THE BUTTERFLY; ONCE; THE LIVES OF OTHERS; CHILDREN OF MEN; GRIZZLY MAN; FOR ALL MANKIND Then, I remember talking about some films that hadn't been seen for many years, because they're part of another generation: SHANE; BAD DAY AT BLACK ROCK; THE 400 BLOWS; THE BICYCLE THIEF; HAROLD AND MAUDE; BON ANEE... Now I'll be awake all night thinking!
